Proche

Proche / Privacy policy

Proche keeps your people on your phone.

Effective 5 November 2026 · Applies to the Proche app (app ID com.cakapps.proche).

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools.
  • The people you add and your notes are stored only on your device, encrypted.
  • Proche never connects to the internet itself, so it cannot send anything anywhere.

Who is responsible

Proche is published by c’aK Apps, based in The Gambia. Contact: ckamilkapp@gmail.com or the contact form.

Data the app stores on your device

To work, Proche keeps what you enter: the people you add (names, birthdays, company, job title, phone, e-mail, social profile names, notes), meeting logs, gift ideas, connections between people and your settings. This is stored in an encrypted local database. The encryption key is generated on your device and kept in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. It is never sent to the developer or to anyone else.

Business card scanning

When you scan a business card, the app asks the system for a photo (camera or a photo you pick). The text is read on your device, with Apple Vision on iPhone and a model bundled in the app on Android, with no download and no network. Proche does not save the photo or upload it, and discards it once the text is read. Only the details you review and save are stored. On Android, the camera app you use may keep its own copy of a photo you take; that copy is outside Proche. On iPhone the system asks for camera access when you take a photo and for photo access when you choose one; you can pick “Select Photos” so Proche sees only that photo.

Online lookup links

Buttons such as “Search on LinkedIn”, “Search on X” and “Web search”, and the LinkedIn, Instagram and X profile buttons, only open your browser or another app on a web address. Proche itself never goes online. When you tap a search button, the person's name and company are put in that web address, so the website you open, and your browser, receive them under their own privacy policies. Proche does not read, import or sync anything from LinkedIn or any other service.

Backups

Proche makes no cloud backups, and its data is excluded from iCloud and Google backups. In Settings you can export a backup file. The exported file is not encrypted. You choose where it goes (Files, e-mail, another app) through the system share sheet, so treat it like any personal document. Importing a backup replaces the data currently in the app. We cannot recover lost data, so keep an exported backup if the data matters to you.

Notifications

Reminders (such as “you haven't seen someone in 90 days”) and birthday alerts are scheduled locally on your device with its own notification system. There is no push-notification server, and no data is sent anywhere to deliver them. You can hide names in notifications in Settings.

Permissions

On Android, Proche asks to show notifications, to restore reminders after the phone restarts and to keep the phone awake just long enough to show them. It does not ask for internet access, and it does not ask for camera or photo access (the system camera app or photo picker is used). On iPhone it asks for camera access when you choose “Take photo” and for photo access when you choose “Choose from library”. It does not ask for access to your phone's contacts, location or microphone.

Children

Proche is a general-purpose personal tool and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no data, it collects nothing from children either.

Deleting your data

Delete a person inside the app to remove them and their entries, or uninstall the app to delete everything. The developer holds none of it, so there is nothing to request from us. Backup files you exported stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or hold any personal data, there is nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. If you have a question, write to the contact address above.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If the app ever starts to collect data or ask for internet access, this page will be updated before that version is released.
